Enrica Rocca is fast becoming one of the most famous Italian Chefs in London. Enrica Rocca loves Italian food and she conveys this passion in her cookery classes. She offers a panoramic look of Italian cooking and is happy to share some of the secrets that make her cooking so great. These informal courses offer a great opportunity to meet new and interesting people while at the same time having fun learning to cook the Italian way! Enrica runs two weekly courses on Fridays and Saturdays. The cooking course begins at the market (Portobello Market on Fridays and Borough Market on Saturdays). Walking through the market, Enrica Rocca teaches you how to choose the best vegetables, fish and meat. Being able to select the right ingredients is one of the secrets that will allow you to cook superb dishes. After shopping, you will go back to Enrica Rocca’s house and in her kitchen and here you will learn the secrets and the art of Italian cooking. You and she will cook two main courses and two different pasta dishes At the end of either course, you will have enjoyed a truly Italian experience. You will have learned to prepare and cook some wonderful Italian dishes and you will be able to impress your partner or friends with your skills at your next dinner party!
The main courses are: Enrica Rocca Friday Portobello Market Day (full day) New for this season is this Portobello road day aiming to introduce you to the local shops and identify and buy the best possible ingredients. A totally spontaneous experience where the menu is decided while shopping, to give you the opportunity to eat and experience the ingredients of your choice. The course start at Enrica Rocca's house at 9am. Classes finish at approximately 2.30pm Enrica Rocca Saturday Borough Market Day (full day) The course kicks off early morning at Borough Market in south-east London to learn how to identify and buy the best Italian ingredients - then we proceed to the kitchen to cook and eat our purchases. Once again there is no upfront planning of the menu, it is all in your hands.
Mother of two, Enrica Rocca studied at the Lausanne Hotel School for four years then managed a Chinese restaurant near Neuchatel, Switzerland for two years, ran a caviar import business with her husband in Switzerland for a year and then emigrated to South Africa with her family in 1990. Enrica Rocca is daughter of Count Carlo Maria Rocca. While the core of Enrica Rocca’s food is Venetian, acknowledging her roots, she is not shy about covering Italy from North to South in search of the right, delicious dishes to pass on to her students.
